Good old Melbourne, a
city of wide streets with clanging trams, and home of The
Melbourne Cup, Australia's greatest horse race, which is held on
the first Tuesday of each November and the whole nation stops
for it.
Nothing ever seems to be far
away in Melbourne, (well, maybe the airport!), or hard to get to. I have
always found it to be a very accessible city with most attractions
within easy reach.
We had a couple of days to do a
bit of sight seeing and the weather was perfect for winter. We found the
trams to be such a handy way to get around and we checked out the shops
and managed to see a lot of what inner Melbourne has to offer.

| It's a great city. We took a cruise
up and down the Yarra River, visited the Shrine of Remembrance,
Federation Square, Captain Cook's
cottage and Queen Victoria Markets which is a fascinating place where we
also ambled unseen past P.J. Proby several times during the afternoon as
we made our way around the markets. He had been so nice to us at Sydney
Airport that we decided against intruding on his privacy again and let
him enjoy the markets in peace. |

| P.J. made a guest appearance
with Gerry Marsden when they were interviewed on Bert Newton's Good
Morning Australia show which was broadcast throughout Australia on the
TEN Television Network. At the end of the show Gerry and The Pacemakers
performed a song. |

| We met up with Lee and Leanne
Thomas for dinner on the Tuesday night and we all had a great night with
plenty of laughs and also paid a visit to the Crown Casino complex with
them to check out the venue for the final concert the following night.

Along the way we met a celebrity who was obviously also in town to see
P.J.
